ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Universities are facing an environemnt that is charactersised by social and economic sector
organisations with low productivity, wiping out of numerous traditional jobs, increasing urbanization, closer linkage with global market, growing environmental degradation and social friction from disparity and unsustainability, and large number of young and unemployed with difficult-to-meet aspirations. Unfortunately, mainstream in higher education institutions have failed in required entrepreneurship and employable skill development in the country.
In todays’ era, learning has to be interdisciplinary and cross cultural. Learning from listening and
seeing has to be by doing and discovery. The learning must be beneficial to the immediate society. Context specific, problem solving and experiential learning require different approach and different skill set from the faculty point of view. Therefore, the question is, how many faculty members have the knowledge and skill to impart such learning and do they have the methodology to teach their students? Towards this end, the capacity building programme on the theme of “Experts in Team” has been designed as a participative, interdisciplinary and realistic tool for teaching and learning.
Centurion University of Technology and Management has collaborated with Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) to have student and faculty exchanges around a newly designed programme of sustainable entrepreneurship, funded by UTFORSK. A host of research will also be conducted around the design and delivery of this programme. A key component which is alreadyimplemented at NTNU is the ‘Experts in Team program’, to teach interdisciplinary student team by interdisciplinary teachers on a project of socio-economic significance. An attempt is being made to implement the same at CUTM. Keeping this in view, the School of Management, Centurion University of Technology and Management is planning to organise a twelve days Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on the theme, “Experts in Team”
